The first Windows 8 Phone - Samsung ATIV S: although I could not catch the official announcement as IFA 2012, Samsung took advantage of the biggest consumer electronics show in Europe to unveil the world’s first Windows Phone 8 device, the Samsung ATIV S. Although I did spent a lot of time later during the week in the Samsung Hall at IFA, the phone’s were not being displayed (even though I asked and pushed to get a hand’s on experience). Check out the cool review published by the Windows Phone Team Blog.

Here is another article from the Windows Phone Team Blog with photos and videos on the new devices. Here’s another nice layout in the Windows Phone site.
Windows Phone Store: following the Windows Store lead, the former Windows Phone Marketplace changed to Windows Phone Store. With a revamped and cleaner website, the teams are aligning Windows 8 with Windows Phone 8 for the upcoming official launch. Check out the new web site here. You can read the full story on the Windows Phone blog. Remember to keep the Windows Phone Dev Center at hand !
Windows Phone 8 SDK Preview Program is Open: Diving into the development side of Windows Phone 8, Microsoft has opened the Windows Phone 8 SDK Preview program, which allows developers to apply for getting early access to a WP8 SDK preview. You can check the full story and the steps to apply here.
Visual Studio 2012 Launch: A couple of days ago, Visual Studio 2012 was officially launched. VS2012 is the best development tool so far and the evolution and range of features of the tool is mind blowing. Make sure to check the available videos.
That is actually quite a lot to catch up ! Take some time and go through it. It is actually an exciting time, especially for tablets and smartphones. More to come on my trip to IFA 2012, the work that I have been doing for retail environments and soon details on BUILD !
