Using GitHub from Windows

image

If you didn’t know about it, you should try it. GitHub for Windows is a really nice tool to develop and code on Windows and share on GitHub. Head over to the site and download the latest version of the tool.

The site is straight to the point, clean and fluid. Once you download the installer, you will do through a simple installation process. Once installed, the login screen will be displayed for you to enter your GitHub account details.

With your details in, you will be directed to your dashboard, where you can easily overview your local and remote repositories.

I must say that the interface follows the modern principles and is clean and refreshing.

Adding a new repository is really simple. Just click add and fill in the details.

Committing and pushing to the server is equally simple. Easy to navigate and explore, the repos will display the changes, commit history, files involved, etc.

I truly recommend the tool. It will make your life easier, and more productive, and its definitely the easiest way to get on GitHub from Windows. I’m fairly new to GitHub myself, but I’m trying to push more and get the code up there, so it can be shared, improved and extended. Feel free to take a peek at my account.
